Wild Animals: Buzzard

Buzzard

If you think you have to go on safari to see some cool wild animals, then think again! We’ve tracked down some fascinating wild animals - and they can all be found living in the UK!

Buzzard
The buzzard is the most common British bird of prey. For a British bird, it's really quite large, with a wingspan of up to 1.5 metres and it has an impressive hooked beak. Buzzards eat rabbits, and sometimes other small animals such as mice or small birds. They hover above their prey and then swoop down and kill it on the ground. They mate for life and have a distinctive high pitched 'mewing' call.

Where could I spot one?
They're usually found in high, hilly areas in Scotland, the Lake District, Wales and Southwest England.
