Weird Pets: Sugar Glider

Mammal

Do you want a pet but are looking for something different? Hamsters and goldfish are good, but did you know that many weird and wonderful animals can be kept as pets? We take a look at 12 of the most fascinating potential pets we could find. But please remember, any pet is a lot of responsibility so think carefully, do lots of research and talk to your parents before buying any pet.

Sugar Glider
A Sugar Glider is a small marsupial, from Australia. Being a marsupial means it has a pouch just like a kangaroo. Sugar Gliders get their name because they actually can glide through the air. They've got a membrane from their wrists to their ankles called a patagium which allows them to glide from tree to tree. Sugar Gliders get bored easily, so they need lots of attention and a big cage so they can climb and glide about. They're also noisy at night time, so put their cage somewhere where they won't keep the family awake.
