Remy the rat isn't like any ordinary rat - he dreams of becoming a great chef in Paris one day

His father, Django, and brother, Emile, don't appreciate his talents though and put Remy to work sniffing for rat poison in their food

One day, guided by the spirit of his idol Auguste Gusteau, Remy discovers the kitchen of Gusteau's world-renowned restaurant

But Remy is discovered by the kitchen's new garbage boy, Linguini, when he attempts to add ingredients to a soup that Linguini has ruined

The soup's a success - and everyone assumes Linguini made it - so the pair come up with a plan where Remy hides under his hat and tugs at Linguini's hair to control his movements

Linguini's dishes go down well and he's taken as a trainee chef where Colette, the kitchen's only female cook, is assigned the job of looking after him

But Skinner, the new owner of Gusteau's, discovers Linguini and Remy's secret and sets about trying to catch the pair at work

And Remy soon finds himself torn between following his dreams or returning to his previous existence as a rat
