Skateboarding
Skateboarding has always been a popular extreme sport. However, it's not easy to master and it can take hours of practice and dedication before you're able to do impressive tricks. It's a cheap sport to get into, with a basic skateboard costing from around £20. The need to learn some basic tricks, most people start with an ollie (a sort of jumping) and dropping (the first trick involving a ramp).

Skating tricks are getting more and more extreme, with skaters trying to ride railings and jump down steps, as well as using purpose built skate parks. Try to stay safe; always wear a helmet, knee and elbow pads and remember, NEVER skate on a road.

If you're considering taking up skateboarding, and want some inspiration from the safety of your sofa, try a video game. Tony Hawk is the ultimate skateboarder, and has released lots of games where you can pick up ideas, hits and tips. High School Musical superstar Zac Efron is also a keen skateboarder.
